I had the good fortune of spending time with friends in Newport, and while enjoying their fine company I took this picture of Yaquina Head Lighthouse at sunset. Very nice.
Built in 1872 on a rocky outcrop just north of Newport, the 93 foot lighthouse tower is Oregon’s tallest and is still in operation today.
Guided tours of the lighthouse are available Thursday through Tuesday from 12 to 3 pm on a first come first served basis. Sign in at the interpretive center early as space is limited. For more information contact Yaquina Head park rangers at 541-574-3100.
And don’t forget your camera!
